I took a little sabbatical from the blog over the summer but I am back and publishing again. A lot is going on in the mortgage business, as usual, and I will start posting again immediately.

     If you think rates are dropping read economic notes this week!  Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) has also increased substantially at the end of last week.  Two increases in two days, that is a lot when you consider that they usually change every few weeks!

  1760mortgageguide.com and I want to congratulate one of our own contributing authors.  Matt George was named the 2008 President of the Colorado chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

     I have added a new tab to the site.  It is Economic Notes and it is distributed weekly by our marketing department at Universal Lending.  I will update this tab every Monday with the latest economic news that effects the mortgage industry.  I have also added a link to our new Rickard Team website.  The link is top left under the 1760 description.  

We have been inspired to change our blog site name. The inspiration came from a Rocky Mountain News article written by James Paton on September 15, 2007. If you read the article you will see that 5280 Magazine is beginning to sue companies using 5280 in their name. They say they don’t want to be “jerks” but that before their magazine no one knew that there was 5280 feet in a mile or associated 5280 with Denver. So in my attempt to follow in the footsteps of 5280 Magazine’s education of the Colorado public I am going to change the name to www.1760mortgageguide.com. 1760 is how many yards are in a mile. Thank God for this website or none of us in Colorado would know that.

Does anyone know how many inches are in a mile?

It is a goal of www.5280mortgageguide.com to pass on as much valuable information as possible. To do that I have always had a goal of having many guest contributors that can talk as an expert in their field. You will begin to see more content coming from guests and I want you to be aware that I have great respect for these individuals and am confident that you will find their information valuable. Jeff has asked, and I’ve agreed, that I contribute to his blog and provide a technical voice to an already wonderful and informative site. I’ve decide that I would start with a couple of the questions I get a lot and then see where the muse takes us. So, without further adieu…

5280mortgageguide.com is the blog site for The Rickard Team. The Rickard Team consists of myself, Jeff Rickard, and my wife Debra Rickard. We are both residential mortgage lenders in Denver, Colorado and have been for a long time.

5280MortgageGuide is our chance to talk to you about the lending business, real estate, banking and any other information that seems to be of value in the Mile High City. Our goal is a free exchange of information, to answer questions that have been posed to us a thousand times through the years, to offer personal insights to an often unregulated mortgage industry, to talk about real estate and the future of real estate and sometimes to just talk about what’s going on in Denver and the surrounding areas.
